Arrest Records in Butte County
A Butte County arrest can produce records at four levels. The arresting agency keeps its report. The Butte County Jail creates a booking entry if the person enters custody. The District Attorney may file charges that become a Superior Court case. Fingerprint and disposition data can also reach the California Department of Justice. Each source answers a different question.

Butte County Booking Log First
For a recent jail intake, check the BCSO weekly booking logs first. Each PDF covers a date range and identifies the Butte County Jail at 5 Gillick Way. The captured fields include inmate number, booking date and time, charge description, charge or reference code, and the report's print time. Names and photos are not republished here.
A log documents processing into the jail. It may not show the later charging choice, and it is not a current-custody guarantee. For questions a weekly file cannot answer, contact the jail or BCSO Records. The Corrections Division page is the official jail contact point.

Arrest Records: What They Contain
A booking entry is a snapshot made near intake. Charge wording reflects the arrest or booking stage. It can differ from what the prosecutor files and what the court later decides.

Dispositions do not originate in the booking record. Confirm dismissal, conviction, acquittal, or sentence in the court file.
Chico Arrest Records and Maps
Chico Police maintains a city-level Arrests and Crime Map page. It advertises arrest information, crime data and mapping, statistics, a media log, and safety resources. The records unit is at 1460 Humboldt Road and can be reached at 530-897-4910, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Chico NextRequest handles formal city record requests.

A Chico Police entry should be matched to BCSO booking data if the person entered county jail, then to court data if charges were filed.

Recent Butte County Bookings
The BCSO PDF archive is arranged by week, so use the date of the suspected intake rather than treating the newest file as a long-term arrest history. A person may have been cited without a jail booking. Another person may have transferred or been released after appearing in a weekly file. Absence from one PDF proves neither that no arrest occurred nor that no older record exists.
Citizen RIMS serves a different purpose. It presents public sheriff logs and crime mapping rather than a jail intake list. Use it when the question concerns a sheriff incident or place. Use the booking PDF when the question concerns entry into Butte County Jail.
Recent means the log's stated date range. Confirm current custody directly with BCSO, and use CDCR CIRIS after a state-prison transfer.
Oroville Arrest Record Requests
Oroville Police records do not merge automatically into a citywide court database. The department's forms page lists its records channel at 530-538-2456 and records@oropd.org. Oroville also provides a NextRequest portal for city public records. If an Oroville arrest led to jail intake, the BCSO log is the next source. If prosecutors filed it, the Superior Court portal becomes the outcome source.

Butte County Arrests Reach DOJ
During booking, fingerprints and identifiers may move through California's criminal justice reporting chain to the Department of Justice. Courts should later report dispositions so the state summary reflects the outcome. Timing and source gaps mean the arresting agency, jail, court, and DOJ record may not match word for word on the same day.
A person can inspect their own California summary through DOJ record review. California residents complete form BCIA 8016RR and use a public Live Scan provider. BCSO offers Live Scan by appointment at 5 Gillick Way; call 530-552-5200. DOJ lists a $25 processing fee, while the fingerprint site may charge a separate rolling fee.

Arrest Records vs Conviction Records
An arrest is a law-enforcement action based on a warrant or probable cause. A conviction requires a guilty plea or finding in court. The prosecutor can decline to file, change counts, or dismiss a charge. A court can dismiss or acquit. Therefore, a Butte County booking line cannot stand in for the final court result.
